From an early age, Roy's life has been centered around playing piano, singing, arranging, and producing gospel music. That early training and experience, along with his active participation in the church's music ministry put him on a path that would culminate in over 40 years of music ministry. From leading choral groups, to joining with many quartets, Roy is no stranger to gospel music.
So it comes as no surprise that he has now brought together a group of seasoned artists to form The Classic 4. And true to the name, Roy is a classic. The gift of music that he's been given, coupled with a clear calling to use that gift for the glory of God, has served as the impetus for a lifelong love of Gospel music. As an integral part of this group, he brings not only his musical talents and gifts, but also an unmistakable sweet spirit blended with a boundless sense of humor. Singing the baritone part, his smooth, strong voice provides the solid foundation that holds the harmony together.
If you've never listened and heard the passion he brings to a song, or you haven't experienced his incredible gift for tickling the ivories, then be prepared for a blessing. The man before you is a reflection of a heart that has been softened through the years. His contribution to The Classic 4 is distinctively matchless.
Joe Fowler was born and raised in Asheville, NC. There he met and married his lovely wife Marcia. They have 3 sons; Tim, Joey and Brad. They have been blessed with 6 grandsons.
He began singing bass in local groups in the Asheville area and then he formed his own group called The Southerners consisting of Joe Wood, Charlie Lowe, Jerry Wilson and Joe. Later he sang with Mike Cathy and the Resurrection Singers which lead to The Gerald Payne Family where he met and sang with Arthur Rice for a number of years.
Eldridge Fox went to school with his brother Jack, so he knew all The Kingsmen and has been friends with several of them through the years.
Squire Parsons formed a group called Redeemed which consisted of Squire, Joe, Tim Surrett and Ernie Haas. After Tim and Ernie left Redeemed they would be joined by Arthur Rice and Ernie Phillips. He was with Squire for about 7 years.
After that he spent 15 years at The Smoky Mountain Jubilee in Pigeon Forge, TN singing bass in the Jubilee Quartet. He has also done some fill in work with the Palmetto State Quartet.
Joe is now honored to be the bass singer for The Classic 4, which consists of Roy Bray, Tank Tackett and Bruce Campbell.
Bruce Campbell lead singer for The Classic 4 lives and grew up in West Frankfort Illinois. He and his wife Tracy have 4 children, Crystal, Bradley, Jesse, and Katelyn. They have one grandson Jordan. Bruce sang his first solo at Church at age 8, and has been singing gospel music with groups for the last 16 years. Bruce first started singing Southern Gospel music with a local quartet called Gladheart, who he sang with for 7 years. After a short hiatus he joined The Shepherdsmen Quartet who he sang with for 8 years before joining The Classic 4.
Bruce is an active member of Second Baptist Church in West Frankfort and is involved in their extensive missions outreach program. In his free time you can find Bruce involved in woodworking, hiking, out door activities, swimming or watching any sporting event.
His parents instilled a Love for the Lord, by taking him to church regularly and being very positive role models.
You are sure to enjoy his clean, distinctive vocal style; and you will always feel a warm welcome on meeting him and hearing of his love of The Savior.
Many years ago Tank went to his first gospel concert with the Blackwood Brothers and the Sensational Statesmen. He was hooked. Little did he know that those many years later, he would have the privilege of being the tenor singer for the Sensational Statesmen. Along the way, Tank had the opportunity to sing with some of the legends of gospel music as well as many of our country music icons.
In 1971, the Weatherfords gave Tank his initial start to a career that has spanned over 30 years. The Envoys, Rebels, Forgiven and of course Hovie Lister and the Statesmen gave him the opportunity to travel many, many miles and to sing to thousands of gospel music fans.
For the past 20 years, Tank has been a part of the Christ Church Choir of Nashville, TN and has had the privilege of singing on great recording projects of Michael W. Smith, Steve Green, Carmen and country music greats like The Judds, Charlie Daniels and last but not least Dolly Parton. CMA Award Shows, Flameworthy Award Shows are also a part of his opportunities to use the voice God gave him.
Tank feels very blessed to have sung and traveled in every State of the Union, foreign countries such as the Ukraine, England, Scotland, Wales and Russia.
He is thankful for all the support he has had from family and church.
All along he believes God Has Had a Plan For Him.
